Exploring how different forms of inequality intersect

In 2019 as part of UCL Grand Challenges, UCL partnered with the Resolution Foundation on Structurally Unsound, a project exploring how different forms of inequality intersect and how research can better inform UK policy. Bringing together academics, charities, policymakers and organisations across sectors, the project aimed to break down silos and develop a more joined-up approach to tackling structural inequalities. Five years on, its findings have continued to influence policy conversations, with the report referenced in the House of Lords, discussed with national and local government, and informing work with organisations including the CBI and Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

In this video, new interviews Professor Nick Gallent and Dr Olivia Stevenson, alongside Matt Whittaker (previous at Resolution Foundation) reflect on the project's impact, the importance of cross-sector collaboration, and why meaningful policy change takes time.
