UCL Performance Lab

Animating research & inspiring art with live performance

The Performance Lab series, produced by Sylvia Kluczewski, explores how artists, researchers and students can use live performance to animate research – and how research can inspire art.

Alongside a symposium, eleven projects were commissioned using theatre, dance, music, comedy, circus, spoken word and technology; including projects such as The Science of Laughter, with Professor Sophie Scott and comedians Tim Key, Marwaan Rizwan and Stuart Goldsmiths, and a new interpretation of the opera The Tsar wants his Photograph Taken with the UCL Jewish Department and director Leo Doulton.
